‘Brigadoon’ opens tonight at Rabbit Run Theater

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Lost in the Scottish highlands, two young Americans stumble on Brigadoon, a mystical 17th century village that only appears one day every hundred years. The magic of the Highlands and the power of love draw them into the musical world of Brigadoon.

With book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Frederick Loewe and original dances created by Agnes de Mille, “Brigadoon” features such familiar melodies as Almost Like Being in Love, I’ll Go Home With Bonnie Jean and The Heather on the Hill.

“Brigadoon” is directed by Scott Posey, head of the Performing Arts Department at Lake Catholic High School, as well as the producer and director of Lake’s theater program. Posey is a member of Actor’s Equity and is most noted for his musical credits. He has been an associate artist with the Cleveland Opera, as well as a soloist with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra,

“My first experience with “Brigadoon” was years ago at Maine State Music Theater,” said Posey. “I found the premise of the story absolutely charming; the idea of love conquering time and a village floating safely through the ages. “Brigadoon” is a story of love and faith, and having the courage to risk everything to gain everything.”

“Working with this production team, crew and cast has been such an honor. Their level of commitment, their sense of heart and strong desire to convey the message of this piece are impressive.”

The two Americans are played by Brian Mueller as Tommy Albright and Will Hufgard as Jeff Douglas. Their love interests are portrayed by Paige Heidrich as Fiona MacLaren and Hannah Green as Jean MacLaren.  Other roles include Lincoln Sandham as Charlie Darlymple, Tyler Collins as Harry Beaton, Katie Moorman as Meg Brockie and Tom Hill as Mr. Lundie.
