WINDSOR TOWNSHIP —
The two-vehicle crash at routes 534 and 322 that sent eight people to five local emergency rooms Sunday included a van that was serving as an Amish taxi service, transporting adults and children from a Middlefield Township church, witnesses said.
The names and medical conditions of the 12 victims, including those who were transported for medical attention, have not been released.
The van, which was struck in the side by an oncoming car, also slammed into a house at the intersection, the Windsor Township Fire Department reports.
Windsor Fire Chief David Turk was mum on the details of the crash, but took the time Monday to thank the seven fire departments and ambulance services that responded to the crash.
Mutual aid was provided by the Orwell fire and police departments, South Central Ambulance District, and Hambden, Montville, Burton, Chardon and Bristol fire departments, as dispatched by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department.
