Property tax bills to be in the mail within 10 days

— Ashtabula County Treasurer Dawn M. Cragon announces that the 2012 Real Estate Tax bills have been approved and should be mailed within the next 10 days. Payment of the first-half taxes is due by Feb. 20.

Payment may be made at the Treasurer’s Office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon in person or by mail to 25 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio 44047. Payments postmarked by the due date are considered timely. Treasurer office hours will be extended to 4:30 p.m. daily from Jan. 22 through the Feb. 20 due date. Jefferson Village has once again permitted taxpayers to use their drop box located on East Jefferson Street behind Jefferson Community Center. Additionally, electronic payment options such as credit card, debit card and eCheck payments may be made by visiting Payment Options at Tax bills are now available online by using the Tax Search function at the Treasurer’s website.

Due to continued reduced staffing and the possibility of inclement weather, Cragon encourages taxpayers to take advantage of the Feb. 20 U.S. Post Office postmark acceptance and mail their tax payments. Receipts will be returned when a self-addressed stamped envelope and the full tax bill are included.
