JEFFERSON — Ashtabula County commissioners awarded the bid for the Callender Road bridge replacement project Tuesday.

The project was awarded to J.D. Williamson Construction, of Tallmadge. The firm came in with a bid of $2,112,566.50 and the Ashtabula County Engineer’s Office estimated the project cost at $1,924,500.

Commissioners also received two other bids for the project. US Bridge, of Cambridge, bid the project at $2,109,971.40, which was the lowest bid; however, the firm did not complete the bid form properly so the bid was deemed incomplete and not accepted for award. UIC General Contractors, of Ashtabula, also submitted a bid for the project, but the firm’s bid of $2,438,844.10 exceeded the county engineer’s bid by 10 percent and could not be considered per the Ohio Revised Code.

In other business, commissioners approved amendments to the Title XX purchase of the social services sub-grant agreements with Ashtabula County Community Action Agency and Lake Area Recovery Center.

The contract for Ashtabula County Community Action Agency was amended to include additional funding for home delivered meals. The contract for Lake Area Recovery Center was amended to include additional funding for residential treatment.

Commissioners also approved a number of financial transactions for the county.
