Fundraisers for the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League will feed the body and the soul, as the shelter will benefit from a spaghetti dinner and a holistic fair.
The Holistic Benefit for Homeless Pets will be held Saturday at the Shrine of the Healing Masters Church, formerly known as the International General Assembly of Spiritualists Church,at 5403 S. Ridge Road, Ashtabula.
“This is going to be a really neat event,” APL board director Irene Fiala said. “There will be a blessing of the animals ceremony at 3 p.m., so bring your pet or a photo of your past, present or even future pet for the blessing.”
Fiala said the event will offer Tarot readings, psychic readings, palmistry, numerology, and animal communicators and mediums.
Proceeds from the pet and people readings will benefit the animal shelter. Cost is $20 for two, 10-minute readings or healings, or get five, 10-minute sessions for $40.
Concessions and bake sale will help raise dollars for the shelter, and shelter volunteers will have animals there available for adoption, too.
The shelter will hold the semi-annual Spay-ghetti Dinner and Chinese auction on Monday at The Wagon Wheel in Madison Township. Prizes include an overnight stay at Mountaineer Casino in Wheeling, W. Va.; many, many prize baskets, jewelry, gift cards and a lottery ticket basket.
A special prize basket will be raffled to anyone who brings in an item from the shelter’s wish list. Paper towels, soaps, laundry detergent, medical supplies, canned cat and dog food, and Purina brand dry pet food are needed. A ticket for the special prize will be given for each wish list item donated.
