Storm or no storm

Geneva trick-or-treaters brave elements to get candy

GENEVA —

 Frankenstorm? What Frankenstorm?

Children and parents across the Geneva area put on their coats and gloves and went trick-or-treating Sunday, despite intermittent rain and blowing winds.

“I’m not cold!” Ava Ralph, 4, insisted as she ran to gather candy at each house on Eastwood Street.

Dressed as a bee, complete with gloves and a sweatshirt, Ava was excited about chocolate and her birthday in four days.

“I can’t wait!” she said.

Brandi Pauley, 5, didn’t want to be a princess or a bee for Halloween. This little horror film fan rode her tricycle as “Jigsaw” from the “Saw” movies.

“This costume was serious business,” mom Tiffany Pauley said. “And she was going to trick-or-treat no matter what. She wouldn’t wear a coat and ruin the costume, so she is wearing three pairs of pants and three shirts for warmth.”

Codie Fulson and Ian Hadley knew there was no getting out the trick-or-treat experience this year, storm or no storm.

Riley Fridrich, 2, and Miya Hadley, 2, were determined to go door-to-door for their first trick-or-treat.

“We knew they had to have the experience,” Hadley said, “so we said, ‘OK, one block, we can do one block,’ and that’s what we did.”

Parents Kati and Walt Wood were good sports as they walked Ava, sister Hailey Ralph, 8, and a very bundled up 6-month-old Noah Wood door-to-door.

Ava would not be deterred.

“All the candy is worth it!” she said.

Hailey wasn’t so sure.

“You know,” she told her sister, “They sell candy at the store, too.”
