16 people indicted by county grand jury


The following people have been indicted by an Ashtabula County Grand Jury and are set for arraignment in Common Pleas Court.

n An Ashtabula man indicted on two counts of felonious assault and one count of tampering with evidence following a Labor Day shooting.

n Nicholas Hettmansperger, 29, of 247 Minnesota Ave., Ashtabula, was indicted after a shooting near Elm Avenue and Center Street in Ashtabula which injured an Ashtabula man.

n Patrick J. Toomey Jr., 49, of 5650 Woodman Ave., 78, was indicted on two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence with a specification, involving five prior convictions, after a May 28 incident in Plymouth Township.

n Vincent J. Calvin, 38, of 997 Wrights Ave., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of possession of cocaine, 1.1 grams, with a forfeiture specification involving $225.35 following an Aug. 18 incident in Conneaut.

n Corey Thomas, 38, of 5125 New London Road, Ashtabula, was indicted on one count of possession of heroin, less than a gram, and one count of aggravated possession of drugs, methamphetamines, following an Aug. 4 incident in Conneaut.

n Gary D. Williams, 32, of 147 Bridge St., Conneaut, was indicted on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count of deception to obtain dangerous drugs following March incidents in Conneaut involving Oxycodone.

n Nester Angulo, 47, of 175 Vine St., Geneva, was indicted on one count of trafficking in heroin, with a forfeiture specification of $495, one count of possession of heroine and possessing criminal tools following incidents occurring Aug. 23. 

n John Sabo, 42, of 782 Maple Ave., Conneaut, was indicted on one count of aggravated burglary and one count of theft of dangerous drugs (dilaudid) following a July 13 incident in Ashtabula.

n Joshua R. Redding, 7474 Tamkrist Trail, Conneaut, and Blaine Reed, 19, of 2156 S. Ridge Road, West, Ashtabula, were indicted on one count of theft and one count of misuse of a credit card following Aug.t 15 incidents in KIngsville Township and Ashtabula Township.

  • Madison man dies in motorcycle crash

    The Ohio State Highway Patrol Chardon Post is investigating a fatal accident between a car and a motorcycle that collided Saturday morning.
    Lee E. Mullins, 57, of Madison was traveling southbound on State Route 528, on a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle, approaching the intersection of St. Rt. 86, when a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by 36-year-old Kimberly J. Baney of Wampum, Pa. failed to yield at the stop sign entering the intersection.
