Man wanted in Albion is caught in Conneaut, already returned to Pennsylvania

CONNEAUT — An Albion, Pa., man wanted by authorities in that borough was captured in Conneaut late last week and has already been shipped back to Pennsylvania, authorities said.

Police in Conneaut and across Ashtabula County learned on Thursday that Albion was searching for David Maund Jr., 30, who was wanted on several felony warrants, according to a report. A city patrolman spotted Maund walking in the area of Mill and State streets late Thursday night. When the officer approach, Maund began running, Police Chief Charles Burlingham said Monday. At one point Maund scaled a tall hedge near the Pizza Hut restaurant at the intersection, officers said.

The officer who discovered Maund pursued, and was able to stop the fleeing suspect with his Taser device, according to reports. After a “brief struggle,” Maund was placed in custody, according to a report. He was taken to the county jail in Jefferson, police said.

Maund was returned to Erie County, Pa., one day later, Detective Lt. Terry Moisio, of the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, said Monday.
