CMRO will host biker runs all year

JEFFERSON — The Concerned Motorcycle Riders of Ohio will host several motorcycle runs this year, starting with the Special Olympics Ashtabula County run on May 29.

The 14th annual run at Lakeshore Park in Ashtabula Township begins with a prayer and ends with a party. Held rain or shine, the run benefits Ohio Special Olympics. Registration is $10 per person and the run begins at 11:30 a.m. The return to Lakeshore Park includes food, door prizes and a bake sale.

The Jack-in-the-Box Run will be held June 25 at Indian Creek Campground in Geneva-on-the-Lake. Cost is $10 per person and registration begins at noon. The first bike out leaves at 1 p.m. Sign up as a new CMRO member and ride in this run free.

The club will also support the American Red Cross Ashtabula County benefit run July 23 at the Mt. Carmel Community Center. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the first bike leaves at 2 p.m. The blood mobile will take blood donations. The event includes food, raffles, and entertainment.

The CMRO Region 13 steak fry will be held Aug. 6 at DeGee’s II on Lake Avenue in Ashtabula. Registration starts at noon and the first bike out leaves at 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 and CMRO member Joani Tackett said the event ends with a big party.

The annual Toy Run for Charity will be held Sept. 24 at Harassments in Jefferson. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the first bike out leaves at noon. Registration is $10 or a new toy with a value of $10 or more.

The year ends with the annual Covered Bridge Run on Oct. 8, where bikers will tour the historic covered bridges of Ashtabula County. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. at Grand River Manor on Mechaicsville Road. Tickets are $10 per person.

CMRO President Ed Soden said the club is always looking for more members to help plan runs.
