HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP —
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality.
At approximately 4:24 p.m. Sunday, troopers responded to a traffic crash on State Route 307 in Harpersfield Township.
Preliminary investigation shows that Sandra A. Willis, 52, of Austinburg, was traveling east on SR 307 in a 1999 Subaru Forester when she failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the right side of the roadway, and struck a sign and a culvert.
The vehicle overturned, ejecting Willis, then struck a utility pole, overturned again, and came to a rest on its wheels. Willis was transported by ambulance to UH Geneva Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Willis was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Tests will be conducted to learn if drugs or alcohol were being used by the driver.
Also responding to the crash scene were the Harpersfield Fire Department, and North West Ambulance District. The crash is still under investigation.
