Taste of Home cooking school coming to Spire Institute

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Tickets are nearly sold out for the Taste of Home cooking school at Spire Institute, event organizer Kim Frustere said.

“This is a very popular event and we are very nearly sold out,” she said. “If you want tickets, get them now.”

Local cooks can get inspired for Thanksgiving with great recipes from Taste Of Home’s culinary specialist, Michael Barna on Nov. 16.

“We are so excited to have Michael back again this year,” Frustere said. “He is so talented and so popular  — we have had people calling for months asking us when this cooking school will be this year.”

Frustere said cooking school pupils will enjoy new recipes, a new cook book and plenty of tasting samples to go around.

Because of the popularity of the school, Frustere has ordered additional cookbooks for attendees to purchase.

“We usually just have the cook books there for the VIP ticket holders,” she said. “This year, if you couldn’t get VIP tickets, you can still purchase your cook book.”

The book, “Recipes Across America” is full of delicious goodies.

“It’s comfort food, plain and simple,” Frustere said, “and it’s so good.”

The Taste of Home Cooking School is America’s top cooking school program. The school teaches 300,000 people a year how to whip up everything from appetizers to desserts at 300 events a year.

“From experienced home chefs to beginners learning their way around the kitchen, the Taste of Home Cooking School offers something for everyone,” Barna said.

Barna will demonstrate how to make spinach stuffed chicken pockets with a creamy filling and crispy crust.

All attendees will receive a gift bag with the new cooking school magazine. VIP attendees receive the magazine, the new cookbook, and special seating. All attendees get to munch on Barna’s buffet of samples.

The event will also feature door prizes and a vendor’s fair.

“We give away tons of prizes throughout the day,” Frustere said.
