MADISON TOWNSHIP —
Three Madison area men were arraigned Friday morning in Painesville Municipal Court following the beating of two men early Thursday morning near the intersection of Park and Tarbell avenues, according to Madison Township Police department Detective Timothy Doyle and a press release from the department.
Ryan Mihalik, 30, and his brother Shawn Mihalik, 32, both of Madison Township, were both charged with two counts of felonious assault following the beating that took place around 2 a.m. on Thursday, Doyle said.
Ryan Mihalik was also charged with tampering with evidence and having weapons while intoxicated.
A third suspect, Andrew Hood, 33, was charged with having weapons under a disability, having weapons while intoxicated and tampering with evidence, Doyle said.
Doyle said the brothers’ bail was $250,000 cash surety. He said he was unaware of Hood’s bail, but indicated they were still being held in the Lake County Jail late Friday afternoon.
Police responded to a disturbance with gun shots fired at the Park Avenue location around 2 a.m. on Thursday morning and found a 50-year-old man and his 27-year-old son laying in the road severely beaten, according to Doyle and the press release.
Both men were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland and were still in the hospital on Friday. “They both sustained serious injuries,” Doyle said.
Police said a handgun and other suspected weapons were discovered at the crime scene.
Doyle said the incident started during an argument involving a female.
Police from Madison, Perry and North Perry assisted Madison Township Police and the Madison Fire District transported the victims to Madison Lake Health Emergency Room before they were flown to Cleveland, the release states.
