Investigators find marijuana grow operation in Ashtabula Harbor

ASHTABULA — A city man may be looking at cultivation of marijuana charges after police found an indoor grow operation in  an apartment Thursday.

With the occupant’s permission, Ashtabula police searched an apartment at 1119 W. Ninth St. No. 3 after receiving a tip of an illegal marijuana growing operation, Chief Robert Stell said.

“The suspect was cooperative,” he said. “We searched the premises and found plants and items consistent with growing marijuana.”

No arrests were made.

Charges are pending the outcome of testing at the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, Stell said.
