ASHTABULA — Park Haven Nursing Home will be up for auction come October.

The auction will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at Park Haven, 4533 Park Ave.

Dutton Auctions of Massillon is handling the auction of the former 50-bed nursing home/ rehabilitation facility, which also includes some office equipment and furniture. The facility also boasts a sprinkler and security system.

The building could be used for a nursing home, bed and breakfast or hotel, and includes a $1 million addition and renovation on the backside of the building, Joel Dutton said.

Before the auction, the facility will be cleaned up and ready to show, he said, noting on-site property viewings will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 8, 15 and 22.

Serious buyers should bring $15,500 in cash, certified check or approved company or personal check on the day of the sale. Balance will be due at closing. All announcements on the day of the sale take precedence over printed advertisement. Buyer’s premium of 5 percent will be added to bid price to determine purchase price. Real estate will sell before equipment.

Owners will sell to the highest bidder on the day of the sale, according to the advertisement.

Park Haven previously went on the auction block in March but no one came prepared to bid, said David Bambeck of Bambeck Auctioneers in Dover, who handled the auction.

A fire on the second floor closed the long-term nursing home in March 2012.
