The 5-Mile run/walk is part of the Ashtabula Distance Runners Club and a North Coast Road Racing Grand Prix event.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Ashtabula Lakeside Elementary Campus on Wade Avenue and finish at the Lakeside High School stadium off Sanborn Road in Saybrook Township.
There will be first-, second- and third-place awards for overall winners, Male/Female: 9/Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+.
Shuttle service will be provided back to the elementary campus every 15 minutes.
In addition to the 5-mile race, there will be an earlier half-mile race beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the elementary campus for students ages 12 and under. All children participating in the half-mile race will be awarded a medal.
“The event is something to once again bring people in the community together,” said John Radwancky, one of the event coordinators. “If you're a runner or a walker, we'd love for you to participate.”
Radwancky said the community’s response has been positive.
Information and registration for both races can be found on the district website: www.aacs. net or by calling Ray Beckwith at 344-0645.
