ANDOVER TOWNSHIP —
The victim of a Thursday afternoon fatal car crash was identified Friday as 58-year-old Julie A. Wilson of Andover Township.
Wilson was killed late Thursday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m., when her vehicle left the Stanhope-Kelloggsvile Road, hit a culvert and went airborne for 150 to 200 feet, Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Thayne said at the scene Thursday evening.
A preliminary autopsy report indicates high impact caused the death. “It’s (the cause) blunt force trauma to the head, trunk and extremities,” said Ashtabula County Coroner’s Investigator James Baehr.
He said toxicology and other tests will be performed to help in the investigation, he said.
Baehr said the woman had some medical issues that could have caused her to drive off the road.
“The investigation will continue with OHP and ourselves to determine why she went off the road,” he said.
Wilson was declared dead at the scene and transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Andover Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Safety belts were not in use at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to OHP.
