Ashtabula County’s ‘most wanted’ drug felon found in bathroom

Ashtabula County’s “most wanted” drug offender was arrested Tuesday afternoon by federal and local law enforcement officers at a Myers Road, Geneva Township, mobile home.

According to an Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department report, agents from the U.S. Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force served warrants on a number of offenders in Ashtabula and Lake counties on Tuesday.

Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Len E. Ross, 46, on several drug-related felony charges. Ross’ prior charges include failure to appear, four counts of illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, illegal manufacture of drugs, weapons while under disability, complicity to illegally manufacture drugs and obstructing warrants.

The agent’s first stop was at a mobile home in the Rustic Grove Trailer Park, where a 46-year-old woman, identified as Ross’ girlfriend, claimed Ross had not been there in months and suggested they look at his mother’s mobile home in the same park.

During their investigation, the agents discovered that the woman’s 21-year-old son and his 19-year-old girlfriend, who were at the mobile home of the suspect, had outstanding warrants, as well.

When the suspect could not be located at the mother’s mobile home, the agents returned to the girlfriend’s residence and focused their search on a possible hiding spot behind a bathroom sink. An officer called out to Ross and threatened to shoot at the wall if he did not surrender to them.

The suspect surrendered to authorities, who also found chemicals and equipment to manufacture meth in a bedroom in the mobile home.

That led to additional charges for the girlfriend, her son and his girlfriend. They face obstruction of justice, manufacturing/cultivating drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals charges; Ross was charged with the latter two offenses.
