MADISON TOWNSHIP —
A 24-year-old Conneaut man faces felony charges for posing as a teenager to have sex with a 14-year-old girl, according to Madison Township police.
Shawn Snyder has been charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony, according to a statement issued by the township police department.
The victim contacted police on Tuesday, warrants were issued Wednesday through Painesville Municipal Court and Snyder was arrested without incident on Thursday morning, the Lake County News-Herald reported.
In the statement, officers said Snyder passed himself off as a 17-year-old Conneaut High School student. It may not be the first time Snyder used such a ruse, police said.
“Madison police is aware of two other incidents where (Snyder) had engaged in relationships with female juvenile, posing as a 17-year-old male,” according to the statement.
Investigators believe other victims may exist in Ashtabula and Lake counties, and ask anyone with information to contact the Madison Township department (440-428-2117) or their local law enforcement agency, according to the statement.
