PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — In only one week, Kim Jepson moved her optical business, Glasses to You, from Main Avenue to 3915 Jefferson Road. Jepson’s new location, which was once a veterinary clinic, now dons the familiar burgundy and green Glasses to You logo. The store’s sign on Main Avenue will be taken down after nearly seven years of service there.

Jepson has been a licensed optician since 1986. Her optical center continues to offer eyeglasses, contact lenses and complete eye exams by Dr. Burt Carlson, O.D.

“My family was amazing. They dropped everything to help me get in here in a week. I appreciate all their hard work,” she said.

The inclement weather, which closed local schools, did not slow down business for Jepson on Jan. 22, her reopening day.

“With school closed, every one of our appointments came in. So many people were being fitted and picking up their glasses. It was very busy,” she said.

The relocation has allowed Glasses to You to double in size. Customers will notice the spaciousness when they arrive at the shop’s large, well-lit parking lot in the Jefferson Road plaza.

“We want to grow as big as we can. Dr. Carlson is excited about expanding the hours that he gives eye exams,” said Jepson.

“The added space will enable me to hire more employees. This is the first time that I’ve been able to have a break room for them. I plan to expand my lab into a full-service lab in about a year,” she said.

There is an outside pavilion, roomy reception and waiting area, two doctor lanes, and hundreds of stylish eyeglass choices. Budget packages for single vision lenses start at $38. Middle range and higher end frames are also available. More designer frame collections, such as “Prada” will be added as well.

Jepson said that a trunk show will be held near the middle of March. Eyeglass manufacturers will come to showcase their lenses and frames at Glasses to You, making them available at rock-bottom prices during the event.

“It’s a big savings opportunity. I’ll be sending out a mailing to all my previous and existing customers to invite them to the trunk show. But everyone is invited. I look forward to seeing my customers, like seeing old friends, and making new ones, too,” she said.

The friendly atmosphere at Glasses to You is quite noticeable. Customers Perry Williams and Jackie English complimented the charming appearance of the new shop as another customer, Fred Pietrocini, chatted with Jepson about her horses and goats while she adjusted his glasses.

“Kim’s a sweetheart. She keeps the customers happy. We’ve been going to her since 2005,” said Williams.

Jepson said that she would like to use some of the spare room to begin a “Neighbor Helping Neighbor” project. She hopes that customers will volunteer to help by teaching their skills to others in the community.

Jepson said, “I feel blessed to be here in Plymouth (Township) and am thankful to those who supported me. I started my first store with just $800 and two frame boards, made by my husband. Sometimes people miss small miracles like these, which encourage us to have faith. “
