ASHTABULA — Police Wednesday were seeking the help of the public in finding the suspect who robbed a West Prospect Road coin laundry at gunpoint Tuesday.

The suspect walked in, brandished a gun and demanded cash and car keys from the female attendant, Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell said.

The victim complied, and no one was injured, he said.

The incident occurred at about 12:20 p.m. at the Sudsin’ Duds Laundromat at 1752 W. Prospect Road, next to the Busy Beaver, according to the police report.

The suspect, described as a black male with a hooded sweatshirt, left the scene in the victim’s vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash, Stell said.

Police were called to the scene at 12:27 p.m., reports show.

The victim’s vehicle was recovered a short time later on West Prospect Circle, near Center Street, Stell said.

Anyone with any information about the crime should call the Ashtabula Police Department at 440-992-7172.
