Pet owners can register early for APL Walk

ASHTABULA — Sheriff William Johnson, who is seeking election to a fifth term of office, will hold a candidates forum at Kent State University-Ashtabula Tuesday evening.

The sheriff said he planned to event to be a debate, but his opponent, Andover Police Chief Randy Gentry, has declined to attend. “But the invitation is still open for him to attend,” Johnson said.

The event gets under way at 7 p.m. Johnson said he will give a brief overview of the office and his qualifications, then open the forum to questions from the audience. Johnson said he will bring various documentation with him pertaining to controversial topics in the campaign and operation of the office during the past four years.

Marna Drum, coordinator of the Criminal Justice Program at Kent, will serve as moderator. She will be assisted by students from the program.

“My goal is if you have a question, you should be able to ask it and I should be able to answer it,” Johnson said.
