Carlisle’s store will close for four weeks to repair floors

Staff Writer

ASHTABULA — Carlisle’s Home in the Harbor will close Sunday for four weeks because of needed repairs to the floor, owners Toni and Ren Carlisle said.

“Our floor has been slowly sinking for some time,” Ren Carlisle said. “It will require extensive replacement of the concrete which will take several weeks.”

His wife, Toni Carlisle, said the last business day will be Saturday.

“We will then spend several days moving everything out of the store, which will be a big job,” she said. “We plan to hold a very aggressive moving sale for the three days prior to closing.”

January tends to be the slowest month of the year for Carlisle’s Home in the Harbor, so if the store has to close for a few weeks, this is the best time to do it, Ren Carlisle said.

“This is the first time in the store’s 11-year history on Bridge Street that the store has closed for an extended period,” Toni Carlisle said. “We will miss our customers but we look forward to seeing everyone when we re-open on Feb. 7.”

Carlisle’s Home in the Harbor, 1005 Bridge St., carries unique gifts and hand-crafted furniture. Call 440-964-8000 for more information.

Toni and Ren Carlisle are members of the Carlisle family, who have been retailers in Ashtabula County since the 1850s.
