A sunken fishing boat in Conneaut prompted response from the Cleveland Coast Guard’s Incident Management Division Sunday morning.
Conneaut Assistant Fire Chief, Steve Sanford, said the Fire Department was called at 8 a.m. Sunday to pump out an unmanned fishing boat that was listing; however, when they arrived on the scene, they noticed diesel fuel leaking.
Sanford said the Fire Department put up a diking system to attempt to contain the spill, and the Coast Guard and Wildlife Division were contacted.
The Coast Guard’s Incident Management Divison responded to pump out the boat and clean up the spill in an environmentally concious way, he said.
