HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — A 37-year-old Geneva man was arrested Thursday after he threatened to kill an Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department deputy.
Deputies were dispatched to LeFever Road for an intoxicated male trying to ride his bicycle home. The suspect was reportedly at a friend’s house, drunk, trying to leave on his bike and fell in the road, according to reports.
The suspect refused to tell deputies his address so they could escort him home and refused an offer from his friend to spend the night at her residence. Deputies advised the individual he would be arrested if he tried to ride his bike home, according to reports.
The suspect then told the deputy, “go ahead and arrest me, I’m not staying the night.”
Deputies then arrested the man for disorderly conduct. It took two deputies to get the man to the patrol car because he was so intoxicated. Deputies had to carry him half-way down the driveway, according to reports.
As the suspect was being transported to the sheriff’s department, he accused the deputy of murdering his brother. He then began making threatening statements saying, “When I get out of jail, I’m going to find you and murder you,” according to reports.
He made several statements that when he was released, he would find the deputy and kill him. The suspect continued to refer to the deputy using profanities, according to reports.
He told the deputy, “You think you’re tough. I’ll kill you. I’m not afraid of you. I’m going to kill you like you killed my brother,” according to reports.
The suspect then began kicking the back of the seat in the patrol car. The deputy warned him several times to calm down, according to reports.
The individual is facing charges of aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct for fighting or threatening, according to reports.
