A scary night in Geneva area

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE — It takes practice to plunder and pillage, but as any good pirate knows, the joy of the bounty comes in the sharing of the booty.
Eric Ramsey took on his pirate persona Sunday at the Geneva-on-the-Lake Halloween party at the village fire department, tossing candy to hungry little beggars dressed as ninjas, ladybugs, princesses, clowns and vampires.
The annual party, which is held just before the trick-or-treating begins, was well attended, village Fire Chief Tim Mills said.
“We had 60 or 70 kids, which is great,” he said. “This is just a great place for everyone to come out, get something to eat and have a good time.”
Abigail Gemma, 8, was ready for some candy. Dressed as a ladybug, she shed her wings when it was time to hit the piñata.
“I love ladybugs,” she said. “A ladybug is a flying bug.”
Jovanny Maldonado, 2, dressed as a lethal ninja.
“We came along to the party with friends,” mom Elaine Maldonado said. “This was a really nice thing for the kids.”
Sisters Rebecca Ramsey, 5, Katelyn, 10 and Faith, 6, were on the lookout for their favorite treats.
“I love Kit Kats,” Katelyn said. “Kit Kat is my nickname, too.”
Rebecca, who dressed as a cheerleader, said she looks for Reese’s Pieces in her pumpkin shaped bucket.
“I love chocolate and peanut butter,” she said.
Faith, a pretty princess, was on the lookout for Butterfingers.
“I just really like princesses and I really like Butterfingers,” she said.
In Geneva, the ghouls and goblins, princesses and fairies took to the streets to beg for their treats.
