Voters, candidates run for the border

GENEVA — What’s an election without a little chips and salsa?
Debbie Sistek, owner of Luisa’s Mexican Grill in Geneva, will host a candidates night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 to introduce voters and candidates with a little Mexican flair.
“I really want the Geneva voters to connect with the candidates and understand how important their decisions at the ballot are,” she said.
Sistek has invited candidates for Geneva Township trustee, Geneva City council, and Geneva Area City Schools board of education for the informal meet-and-greet event.
The evening will include chips and salsa, nonalcoholic drinks and appetizers, Sistek said, and the restaurant’s menu will be available for those who wish to purchase more food.
Reservations are not required.
Entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. with Dan Wagner and Fred Barringer.
The Geneva-on-the-Lake Concerned Citizens will host a more formal candidate’s night at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the GOTL Safety Service Center on Warner Drive. Candidates for village council, village mayor, Geneva City Council, the Geneva Area City Schools Board of Education, and Geneva Township trustee will present their best cases for political office.
The evening will include an introduction to the candidates and a question-and-answer session. The event is directed by the Ashtabula County League of Women Voters.
