PIERPONT TOWNSHIP — Crafts, baked goods, goat-milk fudge, quilts and gently used Christmas items are a few of the things people will find at Pierpont’s Holiday Mart.
The community event is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department, 6006 Marcy Road.
“The idea came about at last summer’s yard sales,” said volunteer Barb Culp. “Since we lost our school, we’ve been getting together at different community events.”
Anyone who wants to rent a table may do so for $5. The fire department will sell hot dogs, chips and pop. Proceeds from the tables and food will go to the volunteer fire department, volunteer Wanda Williams said.
More food will be on sale at crafters’ tables, including cotton candy, jams, jellies, hard candy and pumpkin rolls.
Williams predicts the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations will be popular sale items.
The community boasts many talented folks, who will be selling quilted tree skirts, throws and Christmas stockings, she said.
