ROME TOWNSHIP — A name change and new owners will greet customers coming to Grand Valley Fitness Center at routes 6 and 45, which reopened last week.
Josh and Lonni Hendershott of Roaming Shores have bought the former L.A. Fitness Center.
On Monday, Josh was busy hand painting the new name in bright blue on the entrance wall of the business. The couple opened their venture with the philosophy of “new name, new attitudes, and new ideas,” says Lonni.
“We are now open every weekday with set hours for our customers and new members. We have a lot of equipment such as treadmills, elliptical machines, weight training and cardio machines plus more,” said Lonni.
Every type of exercise plus classes in aerobic and Tai Bo will be available for the public. The center owners also offer one-on-one training by appointment only.
“We heard the center was for sale. Josh and I discussed it and decided to buy the business. We are renting the building, which is owned by Larry Eggleston,” said Lonni.
Lonni works full time for Cape Fox Professional Services, a Fairport Harbor manufacturing company during the day. She has several employees working during the day and Josh helps out.
Josh has another business venture, PC Repair Whiz, combined with his professional photography business. He does all the sports photos for Grand Valley High School, his alma mater.
Their fitness center has a large main exercise room, a separate cardio exercise room, office areas, locker rooms plus soon-to-open tanning room.
“I’m working to be certified to run the tanning operation portion. As of January we are starting a weight loss contest based somewhat like the one seen on television a year or so ago. It will be fun and healthful for those who enter,” Lonni said.
All the physical fitness programs and events include weight lifting, food and nutrition tips for better healthy living plus helping people set goals for achieving healthier lifestyles and total body wellness.
The center is also hosting Overeaters Anonymous meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Lonni recommends that prospective members can sign up for a free trial, a month or three months or pay for a year membership. For Information on various fee rates for adults, senior citizens and students or for couples by calling the center at 440-563-3040.
Hours for the fitness center are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sundays by appointment.
