Conneaut driver dies after crash By MARGIE TRAX PAGE - Staff Writer - mtrax@starbeacon.com Star Beacon CONNEAUT — One of 10 siblings and always in the middle of family fun, James Dalrymple could fix anything and made a living with his hands, brother Glen Dalrymple said.
James Dalrymple, 71, of Conneaut, died Saturday after a traffic accident in Cherry Valley when he failed to yield at the flashing traffic signal at routes 193 and 6 at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports. James Dalrymple’s pickup truck collided with a Mack dump truck driven by Mark R. Heisler, 57, of Chardon. Dalrymple’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door, trapping him inside. Glen Dalrymple said he remembers his brother as a kind man who worked hard. “He was a good guy who was always good with his hands. He was a retired handyman but liked to keep busy,” Glen Dalrymple said. “We grew up in a family of 10 children and we all lived close to each other our entire lives. We are really going to miss him.” Dalrymple was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, OHP reports. Wayne Township Fire Department personnel extricated him from the vehicle. He was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown for treatment of abdominal trauma, possible head trauma and a possible lacerated liver, Pymatuning Ambulance Service paramedic Tom Lucas said. The crash closed the intersection for more than an hour, OHP reports. Deenna Diehl, 45, of Conneaut, was a passenger in Dalrymple’s truck. She was transported by PAS to Andover Clinic for minor injuries, where she was treated and released, Lucas said. No citations will be issued in the crash, as Dalrymple was at fault, OHP reports.
