GENEVA — A Geneva man who smashed the windows of four parked cars was sentenced to spend 12 days in jail by Western County Court Judge Richard Stevens.

Joshua Hall, 20, of Geneva, pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal damaging Wednesday for breaking the windows of four cars parked on the 500 block of West Main Street Tuesday night, after three witnesses said they heard a car with a loud exhaust leave the area around the time of the crime, police reports show.

Officers interviewed the four victims who had their windshields or car windows smashed. Based on information obtained from those interviews, the officers sought out Hall, whose car, which matched the descriptions given by the witnesses, was parked at his sister’s house, police reports show.

In the car, clearly visible to the officers from the outside, was a black tire iron and some broken bits of automotive glass. Officers also found drops of blood on the passenger seat of the car and outside the car. Samples of the blood were take into evidence, police reports show.

When questioned, Hall admitted to smashing his ex-girlfriend’s window but denied causing the damage to the other three vehicles. When presented with the evidence at the scene, Hall admitted to having smashed all the windows and said he targeted his former girlfriend’s car and smashed the other windows in a “fit of anger.”
