GENEVA — Riding the wave of success from last year, the Geneva Kiwanis Club is bringing back the Historic Downtown Geneva’s Antique and Collectibles Show, Saturday.
“Last year was such a success that we are so excited to see what would come out of it this year,” event organizer and Kiwanis member Fred Frisbie said. “There are a lot of people who really supported this effort.”
The show already has 70 booth holders signed up, and Frisbie hopes for even more.
“We are still signing up booths,” he said. “We hope to have 100 vendors.”
Now the new flea-market committee is selling booth spaces to vendors. Cost is $35 per space for the one-day sale. Vendors must take their own tables and chairs.
The show, which deals in antiques and collectibles of all kinds, will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Geneva Elementary School parking lot on Park Street. The show will be held rain or shine.
“We have a very diverse mix of things at this show, from furniture to glassware, pottery, antique and vintage toys, knives and everything else in between,” Frisbie said. “There is a very good selection of things.”
Frisbie said he expects 7,000 to 10,000 people at the show, which is free to shoppers.
The Kiwanis Club uses the money earned by leasing vendor spots to support Geneva-area youth programs and to help maintain Kiwanis Park in Geneva.
The Geneva High School Key Club will earn money parking cars at the event, Frisbie said.
“It is a great way for the Key Club to start out the year with some money in their treasury,” he said.
The United Church, the United Methodist Church and the Christ Episcopal Church will help the Kiwanis Club in serving food at the show.
For more information about the sale or to reserve a booth space, contact Chairman Jack Allman by telephone (440 466-5976) or e-mail (jackallman@windstream.net).
