CONNEAUT — Threatening skies in the morning yielded to sun, which helped make the Conneaut Port Authority’s weekend antique boat and car show a success.
“We were a little concerned with the weather,” said Denver Spieldenner, Port Authority chairman. “But it turned out to be a nice day.”
The show was conducted Saturday at the public dock and featured a collection of vintage boats, many of them wooden cruisers, owned by collectors. Some of the boats were parked atop trailers, while others bobbed in Conneaut Harbor, tied to the dock.
“We had a few more boats than last year,” Spieldenner said.
Nearby was a display of antique outboard motors, while a few steps away, classic cars and trucks were available for inspection.
Music entertained patrons, and local organizations sold food and beverages.
The classic boat/ car show has been a summertime event the past two years and could return in 2009, Spieldenner said.
“We were pleased (with the response),” he said. “We’ll talk about bringing it back next year.”
