CONNEAUT — Wet weather put a slight crimp in a week-long program that put a fresh face on many houses in the Conneaut area, officials said.
But Mother Nature didn’t dent the enthusiasm of the people involved in the fourth annual Loving Equally All Families program, which concludes today with a recognition dinner.
LEAF volunteers assisted dozens of homes in the area despite the weather and a shortage of workers on some days, said Don Palm, coordinator. “We made progress,” he said.
Several churches are involved in the LEAF program, including Lakeview United Methodist, East Conneaut United Methodist, Amboy United Methodist, First United Methodist, St. Mary and St. Frances Cabrini parish, Four Square Gospel and Bethelem Fellowship.
Workers will tackle a variety of painting projects, as well as some roofing, cleaning and carpentry projects, Palm said.
Homeowners in the area receiving plenty of volunteer assistance within the past several weeks. In June, more than 300 teens and adults from across the country spent a week sprucing up more than 80 homes within a 25 mile of Conneaut for the TeenServe program.
LEAF concentrated on deserving properties in the Conneaut area, Palm said.
