Commissioners extend transit services for JFS clients with added funds

JEFFERSON — Ashtabula County commissioners amended and approved Tuesday a number of transportation contracts for clients needing health and employment related services.
The health related service contracts were amended to extend through Sept. 30. Providers and amounts of additional funds include the following: City Taxicab & Transfer Co., Inc., $20,000; Premier Transportation Services, $11,000; Country Neighbor Program Inc. in Orwell, $30,000; Faith In Action Caregivers, Ashtabula, $5,000; Ashtabula County Council on Aging, Ashtabula, $1,516.86.
JFS contracts for purchasing employment-related transit services were amended and approved as follows: Country Neighbor Program, Inc., $5,000; Premier Transportation Service, $26,250; City Taxicab & Transfer Co. Inc., $75,000.
In other business, the board re-appointed Robert Schimmelpfennig and Dennis Eckart for another four-year term on the Ashtabula County Port Authority.
n Approved a contract renewal with Mobile Medical Inc. of Perrysburg for optometry services at the Ashtabula County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. There is no cost to the county and the contract is retroactive to July 7.
n Amended a service contract with Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, (doing business as Ashtabula County Legal Aid) for $53,507 through June 30, 2009.
n Approved a $29,560 contract with Ashtabula County Children Services Board for the Help Me Grow-Homemaker Services program. The program works with client parents through the county’s Department of Job & Family Services.
