COLEBROOK TOWNSHIP — Acting on a tip Monday, sheriff’s deputies searched for Richard Hollabaugh, 49, of Colebrook Township, only to discover he was growing marijuana in a remote cabin in the woods off Cream Ridge Road.

Hollabaugh was wanted on a 2005 driving-under-the-influence charge, according to sheriff’s reports.

Deputies seized 245 marijuana plants, which were growing outside Hollabaugh’s cabin. The man offered no resistance when he arrested and taken to county jail. The plants are valued at $24,500, officials said.

Hollabaugh is charged with illegal manufacture of drugs (cultivating marijuana). He appeared for bond setting Tuesday before Eastern County Court Judge Robert Wynn.

The judge set a $7,500, or 10 percent cash, bond for Hollabaugh, which he posted, so he was released. A preliminary hearing is set for July 15.

At the cabin with Hollabaugh was Kelly Gwinn, 43, of 4489 Footville-Richmond Road, Rock Creek. Gwinn told deputies the couple was growing the plants to sell. Gwinn related that she used marijuana for “medicinal purposes” because of back surgery. She was charged with illegal manufacture of drugs, (cultivating marijuana).

Gwinn was arrested and released on a summons to appear in Eastern County Court on the charge. Her arraignment is set for July 17, a court spokeswoman said.
