Plymouth applies for grant to buy fire and rescue truck

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP — It will give them more fire power.
A $50,000 fire and rescue truck will give the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department more power to battle a blaze and rescue the people involved, according to the Plymouth Township trustees.
The Board of Trustees have unanimously authorized Fire Prevention Officer Bill Strubbe to apply for a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant of $50,000 to buy a new fire and rescue truck.
The grant needs to be completed and sent in to the U.S. Department of Agriculture by the second week of July, said Ralph Pankowski, fiscal officer.
“We should know within two months if it has been accepted,” he said.
The trustees and Pankowski got together Wednesday night and worked on writing the grant.
