Ashtabula County approves grant filing for Homesafe Inc.

JEFFERSON —Ashtabula County commissioners gave the green light to Homesafe Inc. director Sherrie Price to file an application for a Justice Assistance Grant to pay for a legal advocate position.
The application to the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services is for $26,989.50.
The grant period is from Jan. 1, 2009, to Dec. 3, 2009, according to Price. The legal advocate works with adult victims of domestic violence.
Homesafe Inc. will provide the 25 percent match of $6,747 from its operational funds, including from the United Way, donations and private foundation sources, Price wrote in a memo to the commissioners.
In other business, the commissioners:
n Awarded a $32,598 bid to True North Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Kingsville to supply two small sport utility vehicles for the Ashtabula County Auditor’s office. The Kingsville dealership’s price was the lowest and best of three local area firms;
n Approved a contract with Quadax Inc. of Cleveland to provide laboratory services’ claims processing service for the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The $3,510 agreement is for two years and covers Medicaid claims; and
n Set a public hearing for 1:45 p.m. July 22 on a proposal from County Engineer Tim Martin to vacate a 440-foot portion of Footville-Richmond Road in Morgan Township. The road was abandoned in 1955 and will not land-lock any property. Commissioners are to view the proposed road vacation site at 3 p.m. July 10.
