ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - - Buckeye Local School District got a sneak peek at it's preliminary test scores for the 2006-07 Achievement and Ohio Graduation tests.
Superintendent Nancy Williams said at Monday's school board the results were preliminary. Makeup tests administered to students haven't been calculated into the results yet.
"But at the same time, the district overall shows significant improvement in reading and math," Williams said.
Williams referred to the scores of third through eighth-grade students in reading and math.
"This will be the first time the district will meet all the state indicators in reading and math," she said.
According to the preliminary results, to meet the state report card standard, a district must have a 75 percent or better passing rate. The district passed by 80 to 90 percent in reading in grades three through eight.
Passing rates for the 10th and 11th grade Ohio Graduation Test was at 86 to 98 percent. On the math portion of the achievement test, the passing rate was 80 to 90 percent and 84 to 96 percent on the OGT.
According to the preliminary results in grades three through eight, the district achieved 12 of 14 state indicators, Williams said. However, Williams said official results being released Aug. 15.
