* Police suspect a Conneaut man found bleeding and sprawled in Old Main Road late Wednesday night was assaulted and not hurt in a bicycling accident.
Officers sent to the scene around 11:30 p.m. found the man in the road near the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad crossing. The victim had been drinking, police said.
The man, an Old Main Road resident, claimed he fell off his bicycle, but police said the injuries indicated he had been beaten. He was treated at UH Conneaut Medical Center.
* A boy was cited into Juvenile Court after he was caught stealing cigarette lighters, several packs of cigars and a bottle of soda pop from the Clark convenience store at Harbor and State streets late Wednesday night, police said.
The juvenile was cited for petty theft, curfew and possession of tobacco, officers said. Police were contacted at 11:07 p.m.
* Would-be thieves tried to break into a mobile home on Chestnut Street Wednesday, police said.
A door handle on the residence was damaged, officers said. The owner said the incident probably took place between 6 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., while she was at work.
