JEFFERSON — With additional money funneled into the county’s senior citizens programs for transportation services, Ashtabula County commissioners amended several contracts Thursday.
Country Neighbor Program Inc. in Orwell was given another $7,000 to provide health-related transit to eligible recipients through the end of June. The money for the Orwell agency came from the state Department on Aging funds.
A transportation contract with City Taxicab & Transfer Co. Inc. got an additional $160,000 for employment-related transit.
In other actions, the commissioners included an affirmative action policy to cover all county employees under the county policy and procedures manual. Board president Commissioner Daniel Claypool said the county had such a policy but not all offices or agencies were covered.
This type policy is required for some agencies to receive grant funds, he said. The policy’s main goal is to support a work environment free from verbal, written and demonstrative harassment on the basis of a person, race, religion, national origin, sex, ancestry, age, disability, sexual orientation or veteran status.
