JEFFERSON -- Come this weekend, Jefferson will be basking in the light.
“The last street light was finished today, the wiring is complete and we should have light by this weekend,” Village Administrator Terry Finger announced during the regular council meeting Monday evening.
The lighting project, which includes 24 ornamental street lamps at routes 46 and 307, has been in the works for more than a year.
The lamps were purchased from King Luminaire of Jefferson, village crews have been doing the installation and Harmon Electric of Pierpont Township is doing the electrical work.
Because the lamps are ornamental, they were not part of the Ohio Department of Transportation grant that paid for the intersection improvement project, Finger said.
The $1.2 million intersection improvement project of the site includes widening, reworking the hill to increase visibility and installation of a full traffic signal instead of the former flashing lights.
