Cause of fatal fire under investigation By DORIS COOK - Staff Writer Star Beacon COLEBROOK TOWNSHIP —Authorities are still looking into a fire at 1048 State Route 322, which took the life of a 49-year-old man, said coroner’s investigator Richard Mongell.
Orwell Volunteer Fire Department battled the blaze where the body of the victim was found inside the two-story home. “The body was found in a second-floor bedroom. There were no other people inside the house at the time when firemen arrived,” Mongell said. The coroner’s office did not release the victim’s name Thursday, pending notification of family members. The body was transported to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Mongell said a preliminary cause of death may be released today. Cause of the fire is unknown. Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office were also called to the fire site. Orwell VFD officials were unavailable Thursday for information relating to the fire. Several telephone messages were left for officials, but not returned.
