SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Cleveland area parolee, Dale York Jr., 24, formerly of Ashtabula County, was arrested early Thursday by combined forces of Ashtabula County sheriff’s deputies and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers. York was being sought for a suspected shooting incident in Lake County late Wednesday night.
Kirtland Hills police issued an all-points bulletin late Wednesday night for York, who was reported headed to his father’s home in Sheffield. Description of the car driven by York and a woman with him helped deputies in their search.
York and Amanda Hall Lawhead, 21, of 2307 S. Ridge West, Ashtabula, were spotted before 2 a.m. driving up and down near his father’s home at 2323 State Route 193. The Ashtabula County SWAT team also was called to assist in capturing York in the father’s home.
Before officers were ready to break down the house doors, York and Lawhead came out surrendering, reports show. York Sr. allowed officers to search the house where they found several firearms including a Glock 17 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
York and Lawhead were arrested, then transported to Kirtland Hill Police Department by deputies. Officers also arrested Allen York, 20, who lived at the house, on an outstanding warrant from Geneva Police Department.
