CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP — A wanted fugitive, Joe Bill Baier, 46, of Hartsgrove Township, linked to an April 29 meth lab raid, was apprehended Wednesday night by sheriff’s deputies.
Baier and a female friend, Denise L. Ivancic, 43, of 49 Janet Drive, Orwell, were arrested after deputy Sgt. Jim Kemmerle spotted a suspicious car with one functioning headlight pulling into the Cherry Valley Township Hall parking lot. Kemmerle followed the car and confronted the occupants.
Baier gave a false name, “Kelly Marsh,” which the deputy ran through the dispatcher, who found no match. The couple told Kemmerle they pulled into the parking lot to wait for a pizza ordered from Domino’s Pizza Shop.
As Kemmerle continued questioning the pair, Ivancic admitted the man with her was Baier. Much to the deputy’s surprise, a Domino’s pizza delivery person showed up at the lot, reports said.
Deputy James Trucky arrived to assist in the search of the vehicle. Uncovered were a supply of precursor materials to make illegal methamphetamines.
Baier is charged on the outstanding warrant, along with falsification and illegal possession of chemicals to make methamphetamines. Ivancic was arrested and charged with obstructing justice.
