ORWELL -- “Lord hear our prayer” was the theme of Orwell’s National Day of Prayer celebration Thursday in Chaffee Park.
“I felt it was important that I come and pray with the rest of the community,” said Kathy Harris, who is the pastor of God’s All Nations Pentecostal Church, in Rome Township.
Helen Orgovan of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orwell coordinated the local event and created the order of service which included singing “America the Beautiful,” and “How Great Thou Art,” the reading of scriptures and opportunities for silent prayer about many different concerns.
“We need to pray that more young people would see the need for God in their lives and go to church,” said Jan Smith of the Colebrook United Methodist Church.
“And all of the people suffering from the loss of their jobs,” said Fannie Wolf, of the Orwell North Presbyterian Church.
The foursome also prayed for the leadership in Orwell, Ashtabula County, Ohio, the United States and the world.
