GENEVA — A Geneva man who won’t let driving under suspension charges stop him from getting behind the wheel.
Thomas Reeder, 33, was again cited for DUS just after midnight Saturday, his fourth such charge in five months, Geneva police reports show.
A cracked tail light and suspicious registration stickers prompted a traffic stop that netted three possible drug charges and four traffic citations for Reeder, who was pulled over in the 700 block of West Main Street, Geneva police reports show.
Upon further investigation, the officer found Reeder’s license plate, which had a registration expiration of July 2008, was peeled off another plate and glued onto the car license. The actual registration of Reeder’s car expired a year ago, police reports show.
As Reeder was placed under arrest for driving under suspension, failure to provide proof of insurance, cracked tail light, fictitious plates and expired plates, officers found a small bag of marijuana and two clonazepam pills, used for anxiety, in Reeder’s pockets. A search of the car netted a homemade pipe used to smoke cocaine, police reports show.
Reeder is charged with all listed traffic charges plus two criminal charges of drug abuse and the felony charge of possessing criminal tools, Western County Court records show.
Reeder pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges. He is being held at the Geneva City Jail in lieu of bond and will go to trial in Western County Court June 4. He will be arraigned on the traffic citations the same day, court records show.
This isn’t Reeder’s first brush with Geneva police. Court records show Reeder has been cited for four times in four months for driving under suspension and the improper display of license plates. He was cited Jan. 4, March 19 and April 15 for the same charges and faces an open charge of theft stemming from a April 13 incident, court records show.
