ASHTABULA — The city now offers its residents the ability to view their sewer and trash accounts online, and soon, residents will have the ability to pay their bills automatically from the comfort of their home computers.
The new technology is available thanks to the city’s purchase of new utility billing software, City Auditor Michael Zullo said.
Now, with the click of a mouse, residents can access the site from the city of Ashtabula’s home page, following these directions:
Go to the Web site at www.cityofashtabula.com.
Click on “sewer/trash billing” at the top of Home page.
Click on “Click here” to review your sewer/trash account.
Click on review your sewer trash account.
Read the disclaimer and click on “I accept, continue.”
On the utility connection page, you must register your account. Landlords, DO NOT register each account individually. Contact the city’s billing department at (440) 992-7155 or (440) 992-7106 for an ID and reference. This will allow you to access all of your accounts at once.
To register you sewer/trash account
Click “register”
Enter your account number located at the top of your bill.
Enter your street address/service address; located below account number on your bill.
IMPORTANT: YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER AND SERVICE ADDRESS MUST BE ENTERED EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR BILL
Click the drop down arrow to select a recovery question, such as your mother’s maiden name.
Enter your response.
IMPORTANT: This information is case sensitive.
Enter your response again to confirm.
Enter your e-mail (optional).
Click “Register.”
If all information is correct click “generate my pin.”
If incorrect, click “modify registration information” and make changes and proceed.
A “registration is successful” message should appear as well as a pin number. Write this number down exactly as is. Pin numbers are case sensitive.
You only need to register once and you can change your pin anytime.
Accessing your account
Log in to utility connection
Click “Log in.”
Enter your “Account number.”
Enter your “Pin number.”
To change your pin
Click “click here to recover or change your pin.”
Enter “Account number.”
Enter “Address.”
Click “Continue.”
Answer your security question.
Enter your new pin number (this must be five or more characters long).
Enter your new pin again.
Click “submit.”
Pin update successful message will appear and you can continue with your log-in. If you need assistance please contact the city of Ashtabula service billing department at (440) 992-7155 or (440) 992-7106.
If customers would like to sign up to have their sewer and/or trash payment taken directly from their checking or savings account on the day the bill is due, they can do so by accessing the city of Ashtabula Web site at www.cityofashtabula.com.
Click the sewer/trash billing link and print out the “easy form” under the automatic bill payment. If the customer does not have access to a computer and/or printer, they can pick up the easy form at the sewer payment window located on the second floor of City Hal.
