ANDOVER — A mix of traditional hymns, sacred classics and contemporary Christian music will be sung by a combined choir of about 60 members this weekend, said the Rev. Vernon Palo of Andover United Methodist Church.
“One Lord, One Faith” is the title of the musical experience open to the public free of charge, Palo said of the event to be held 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Performing Arts Center at Pymatuning Valley High School.
Churches from Ashtabula to Kinsman and Meadville to Greenville will be represented at the event that will be directed by Tina Teter, Palo said. He said she is a graduate of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University and directs two major performances a year.
Palo said the event is held at the arts center because it is a neutral site and the acoustics are excellent.
He said a portion of the “Hallelujah Chorus” will be sung in addition to the contemporary and traditional hymns.
“There will be a banner procession with all the symbols of the faith,” Palo said. He said there will also be multi-media representations on screens around the singers.
A love offering to defray expense will be taken at the concert, Palo said.
