JEFFERSON —It isn’t much money, but $1,375 will be added to County General Fund soon as Sheriff William “Bill” Johnson disposes of five junk vehicles for scrap.
Commissioners approved the list of the vehicles ranging from a 1985 Buick Park Avenue to a 1990 Mercury Marquis. Most of the cars were part of court drug case forfeitures or unclaimed motor vehicles and beyond any repairs, officials said.
At the same time, the board approved Johnson to purchase one new 2008 Dodge Charger police cruiser for $21,820. It will be obtained through the State Cooperative Purchasing Program. The vehicle is being purchased from Gollings Arena Dodge, Inc. of Dayton, Ohio.
In other business, the board approved buying a 2008 pickup truck through the State Cooperative Purchasing Program for the Ashtabula County Department of Environmental Services. Cost is $14,020.20, which was less than three other truck quotations by local county dealers.
They also approved a change order amounting to $73,880 for CIR, Inc., general contractor for the Countyline Road waterline project. The total project is now $699,683.85.
