DORSET — Firefighters lost a night’s sleep, and a township resident lost his home, because of a blaze early Tuesday morning.
Dorset Volunteer Fire Department responded at 1:34 a.m. to a mobile home located at 3423 Allen-Comp Road. The property is owned by Jim Comp, and the home was occupied by a Comp’s Dairy Farm employee, said Fire Chief John Sullivan.
“When we arrived flames were coming through the roof on the south side of the structure,” Sullivan said.
The firefighters entered the home to make sure the occupant was not inside asleep.
“He was found awhile later safe and sound, inside the barn, working,” Sullivan said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Andover and Jefferson fire departments.
No one was injured in the fire. The structure was a total loss, determined to be $50,000, which included the contents and the mobile home itself, Sullivan said.
“We had to pull the ceiling down to get to all of the fire in the roof,” he said.
